Wrestling betting: sites & strategies ahead of the 2021 Olympics
Betting on Wrestling
How to do that? Is there any strategy or betting tips, wrestling predictions and so on? Like boxing, wrestlers come under particular weight categories and a wrestling bout takes place over two periods of three minutes with a short interval; the straight win or moneyline is the most popular bet in wrestling gambling.
Bouts can be very defensive as competitors seek to gain an advantage so the total points bet – competitors are awarded points for various holds – could prove profitable. Check with a sportsbook whether they’re offering a points value for a bout and if there are two defensive fighters, bet below the value offered.

Wrestling at the Olympics
Wrestling. Considered to be the oldest sport in existence, wrestling formed part of the ancient Olympic Games in 708BC. It dates back to prehistoric times with cave drawings at Lascaux in France depicting wrestlers in combat, and as both sport and entertainment it has stood the test of time.
Today wrestling is seen by many in terms of World Wrestling Entertainment, WWE, that has produced famous stars like Dwayne Johnson and Hulk Hogan, but the Olympic sport is a far cry from WrestleMania.
The original competition in 1896 involved five competitors and was competed over the Greco-Roman format. There are two main styles at Olympics level, freestyle and Greco-Roman, based on where you can hold your opponent: freestyle is anywhere and Greco-Roman only above the waist.
The US are second only to Russia in the wrestling all-time gold medal table and have won the most Olympics medals in the sport. The vast majority of their medals have been in the freestyle format with one of the all-time greats of the sport, John Smith of Oklahoma, taking back-to-back golds at Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992.
Maryland pair Helen Maroulis and Kyle Snyder are expected to defend their respective bantamweight and heavyweight Rio 2016 titles at Tokyo 2021, but will face stiff competition, especially from the Japanese wrestlers. Maroulis took the US’s first women’s gold, beating Japan’s Saori Yoshida who was chasing her third straight Olympics gold.
