Betsson Sportsbook App to Launch in Colorado. Bonus Expected

European casino and sports gambling platform Betsson (Stockholm-listed) signed an agreement with Colorado -based Dostal Alley Casino with a goal to enter US sports betting market. Betsson retail sportsbook as well as their online and mobile app are expected to go live in Colorado in 2021. Colorado will become their first state in the USA where Betsson will start accepting bets on professional and college sports. The next US state for Betsson group (operating brands such as betsson.com and betsafe.com) could be Indiana.

A Swedish-owned gambling company that began in the slot machine business as early as 1963, Betsson’s online gaming empire is based out of Malta. Betsson CEO and President Pontus Lindwall described the venture as a cautious first step to get their feet wet in the burgeoning USA market and establish a presence for their company within the country.

“We have followed the development in the US closely since the possibility of a repeal of the PASPA and have carefully considered ways to enter the market,” Lindwall said in a news release.

“The whole country has a strong culture of gambling and is now experiencing online penetration at (an) accelerated pace, where consumers are transitioning from traditional retail outlets to also now bet on their mobile devices.”

Indications from Betsson are that they will look to enter the market sometime early in 2021. Though new to the American market, Betsson has a well-established reputation in Europe.

Listed as Betsson AB on the NASDAQ Stockholm, Betsson is a holding company that invests in and manages fast-growing companies within online gaming. The company is one of the largest online gaming firms in Europe and ambitiously seeks to outgrow the market, both organically and through acquisitions. Betsson intends to establish its U.S. base in Colorado by opening a small office within the state. 

They offer their gaming services under 20 different brand names, including Betsson, Betsafe, Nordicbet and Casinoeuro. The brands are operated on a proprietary platform.

The company’s sportsbook trading team provides odds on over 200,000 events per year. They cover betting markets from UEFA Champions League soccer to harness racing. There’s also an emphasis on prominent North American sporting markets and even entertainment wagering. 

Betsson also offers the world’s largest mobile casino with close to 1,500 games and has a total of around 1,900 games available. They also provide the necessary technology for an online poker room.
