Belmont Stakes 2022 Betting Guide

Author: AmericanGambler1234 | Last Updated: June 7, 2022

Our Belmont Stakes 2022 betting info will give you everything you need before placing your bets on the third and final leg of the Triple Crown. After wagering on the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, it’s time to end strong in Elmont, NY.

Rich Strike did not compete in the Preakness Stakes, so a Triple Crown is not at stake. However, the Kentucky Derby winner will be returning. But this time, he won’t be the longest shot in the field.

Belmont Stakes 2022 Post Positions & Morning Line Odds

Belmont Stakes 2022 post positions were drawn on Tuesday, June 7th. There are fewer horses in this race compared to the other Triple Crown races, but it is the longest.

  1. We the People 2-1
  2. Skippylongstocking 20-1
  3. Nest 8-1
  4. Rich Strike 7-2
  5. Creative Minister 6-1
  6. Mo Donegal 5-2
  7. Golden Glider 20-1
  8. Barber Road 10-1

Top Contenders

When you are doing your research, there are other prep races you can take a look at. Many of these horses competed in the Louisiana Derby, Florida Derby, Peter Pan Stakes, Blue Grass Stakes, Arkansas Derby, and Fountain of Youth Stakes.

Everyone is going to be looking at Rich Strike. Thirteen horses have won the Triple Crown, and another 13 horses have won the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes. Bettors won’t get as high of a payout with his favorable odds in the Belmont. It appears he has been in good spirits since arriving at the track.

Mo Donegal is the morning line favorite. He finished fifth in the Kentucky Derby, with three first-place finishes in his six races. He is trained by Todd Pletcher, who also trained Nest out of the fifth post.

We the People has three very impressive finishes but struggled in the Arkansas Derby. Creative Minister has been in all of his four starts, including a third place in the Preakness.

Picks

I’m going to place an across-the-board wager on Creative Minister, and a win bet on Mo Donegal. I don’t believe Rich Strike will have the same magic he had in the Kentucky Derby.

About the Belmont Stakes

For over 150 years, the Belmont Stakes has been run at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY. The nickname for the track is “Big Sandy,” much due to the large oval that the horses compete on.

It is a 1 ½ mile race on the dirt track and is known as “the Test of the Champions” due to its long distance. A maximum of 16 horses can be in the field, but 2022 will only feature eight horses. The purse for the Belmont Stakes is $1.5 million.

The morning line odds will change, becoming much different than the morning line odds. Pay attention to some of the longshots! Recent winners have all had long odds.
