Woodley vs. Burns Predictions (UFC Fight Night 176 Main Card)

Author: americangambler | Last Updated: May 20, 2020

Here is our UFC Fight Night 176: Tyron Woodley vs. Gilbert Burns and Main Card Betting Prediction.

Tyron Woodley will be the favorite for his meeting opposite Gilbert Burns after it was confirmed the pair will headline UFC Fight Night 176 on Saturday, May 30.

UFC Fight Night 176 Preview & Odds

UFC president Dana White has driven mixed martial arts back into the sports spotlight despite the coronavirus pandemic, although this event is yet to receive an official location as of yet. The past three events have taken place without an audience at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, and it’s understood Arizona is being lined up to host if Las Vegas, Nevada, remains out of bounds due to lockdown laws.

Woodley vs. Burns Prediction

All-rounder Burns (18-3) is riding high on a five-win streak entering his clash with Woodley (19-4), who hasn’t fought since he lost the UFC welterweight championship to Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 in March 2019. Burns, on the other hand, was in action as recently as March when he finished Demian Maia in less than three minutes—his fourth fight since the beginning of 2019—but he remains the +150 (2.50) underdog at some US online sportsbooks, like bet365 for all customers in New Jersey.

“The Chosen One” is highly regarded for his fight acumen and ability to prepare for his opponents. The odds aren’t as favorable for fighters who have been out of the octagon for a year or more, but T-Wood could be the kryptonite to cancel out Burns’ biggest strengths at -175 (1.57).

Augusta Sakai vs. Blagoy Ivanov Predictions

Also on the card is a close-looking heavyweight showdown between Augusta Sakai and Blagoy Ivanov, the latter of whom has developed a reputation as one of the toughest fighters in the UFC.

Sakai (14-1) has finished two of his three opponents in the UFC thus far but won’t have an easy time repeating the feat against Ivanov (18-3), who has only been stopped once in his career—a submission loss to Alexander Volkov in Bellator back in 2014. Both of the Bulgarian’s UFC wins have come via unanimous decision (against Tai Tuivasa and Ben Rothwell), and it would be a surprise if he didn’t view that as his path to victory come May 30.

The other two confirmed fights for Fight Night 176 are stylistic battles, both of which look as though they could go in favour of the grappling expert.

Dern vs. Cifers Odds

Mackenzie Dern (7-1) looks like a shoo-in to beat striking specialist Hannah Cifers (10-4) considering she’s a short pick at -375 (1.27), though Cifers could be worth a small punt at +305 (4.05) given her only UFC defeats came against tough foes in Maycee Barber and Angela Hill. Abreu vs. Hill Predictions

Klidson Abreu (15-4) is a far less certain selection to beat light heavyweight opponent Jamahal Hill (7-0), but the former could surprise the bookmakers if he can the mask the striking volume of “Sweet Dreams” and assert his will on the ground.
