What is the NHL Stadium Series?

The NHL Stadium Series is an annually recurring outdoor NHL event. It is distinctly different from two other similar outdoor events the NHL holds; The NHL Winter Classic and the NHL Heritage Classic.

The Stadium Series began back in 2014. The games take place at famous outdoor venues rather than NHL stadiums. Past venues include Yankee Stadium, Dodger Stadium, Soldier Field, and Lincoln Financial Field. This year’s contest will take place at Carter-Finley Stadium, home of the NC State Wolfpack.

With the exception of the inaugural year, when four games took place, and 2016 when two games were played, this outdoor hockey event is just a one-off each season.

Stadium Series Betting Guide

Hockey betting works a little differently than other sports. NHL bettors are presented with three main options:

The Puck Line: A fixed handicap line of 1.5. The Hurricanes are favored, so for them to cover the spread, they need to win the game by two or more goals.

The Moneyline: A bet on the outright winner. You will get more advantages odds backing the underdog Capitals. The Hurricanes are the safer play.

The Total: A wager on how many goals the teams will combine to score. In this contest, it is set at 5.5, meaning for the over to hit, a minimum of six goals need to be scored.
