What is the difference between WNBA and NBA betting?
There isn’t much difference between betting on basketball games played in the WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) and the NBA (National Basketball Association).
One major difference between the betting rules of the two major professional leagues in the United States is the number of minutes that are played in each half and game.
In the WNBA, the women play four 10-minute quarters, while in the men’s game (NBA), the quarters are 12 minutes long. Therefore, the totals on men’s games are higher than those of women’s games in the two leagues.
Other than that, many of the same types of wagers – both sides and totals – are offered on both the WNBA and the NBA.
However, it should be noted that most sportsbooks will offer lower limits (maximum amount that can be wagered) on women’s games.
This is due to the fact that more-specialized handicappers may have an advantage over oddsmakers in obtaining or gaining public information about a team or a specific game.
Also, many sportsbooks will limit the types of variations of wagers on WNBA games in comparison to NBA contests, reducing their exposure to sharp women’s basketball handicappers’ opinion.
