Curtis Blaydes vs Alexander Volkov Predictions

UFC on ESPN Predictions: Curtis Blaydes to Out-Grapple Alexander Volkov in Main Event.

Alexander Volkov will attempt to cease Curtis Blaydes’ three-win streak when the pair collide in the main event of Saturday’s UFC on ESPN card.

The winner of this bout will gain major sway in their efforts to land a bout opposite UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, with Blaydes leading as deserved favorite ahead of his return to Las Vegas.

“Razor” has lost twice to Francis Ngannou in the UFC—the only defeats on his 13-2-1 professional record—but is now enjoying a three-win run, the most recent of which were TKO wins over former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and Shamil Abdurakhimov.

Curtis Blaydes vs Alexander Volkov Predictions

Blaydes is the runaway favorite to extend that streak at -400 (1.25), while Volkov is a distant +300 (4.00) underdog with Bet365 NJ, available to residents of New Jersey and other select states.

Russian native Volkov (31-7) is yet to fight in 2020 but defeated Greg Hardy via unanimous decision following his last bout in November 2019. “Drago” recorded his only UFC loss to date when he was knocked out by Derrick Lewis more than a year prior to that, and one fight in the last 20 months or so may leave him somewhat rusty against a wrestler of Blaydes’ quality.

That’s where Volkov looks the lesser fighter on paper, with the majority of his professional losses having come against opponents who were more intimidating on the ground.

The 31-year-old isn’t to be discounted considering he’s won five of his six UFC fights since debuting in November 2016, two of which came via KO or TKO. However, Blaydes packs a punch of his own and has a more versatile arsenal of tools at his disposal, with a ground-and-pound victory not difficult to envision for the favorite come Saturday.

Prediction: Blaydes to win via TKO
