UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs. Munhoz Predictions
Pedro Munhoz (-250) vs. Frankie Edgar (+200) Prediction & UFC Fight Night Odds Preview.
UFC legend Frankie Edgar drops down a weight class for the second time in his career when he faces Pedro Munhoz in his bantamweight debut on Saturday.
The promotion couldn’t have given “The Answer” a much more difficult maiden bout in the division than Munhoz, who—like Edgar—is targeting a bounce-back result following a unanimous-decision loss to Aljamain Sterling in June.
Victory at the UFC Apex will likely throw either fighter into talk of a bantamweight title challenge, and Munhoz looks well worthy of his status as the -250 favorite with William Hill. Fans of New Jersey native Edgar will be eager to see the +200 underdog avoid matching his career-worst streak of three straight defeats, but it’s difficult to see the necessary holes in his opponent’s game.
“The Young Punisher” is dangerous in all areas, counting three knockout finishes and three submission wins among his total eight UFC victories. Edgar has a wealth of experience and has met bigger hitters in heavier divisions, but at 38, there’s bound to be some concern over his conditioning after the weight cut.
William Hill‘s method of victory odds could be where the value lies as Munhoz sits at +550 to submit veteran Edgar, something no fighter has accomplished to date.
Edgar has suffered knockouts in two of his last four bouts and could be particularly wary of that finish against a foe who likes to stand in the pocket, opening up the space for Munhoz to take advantage on the ground.
Prediction: Munhoz via submission
