Should you go against the public when betting Major League Baseball futures?

Betting against the public in every sport is generally a good idea. It’s no different in baseball. However, that comes into play when betting individual games, during the season. This is not necessarily the case when betting on baseball futures. The “image” teams get the most play and the oddsmakers are well aware. The New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers are the most heavily bet teams, so the oddsmakers will adjust the lines. Sometimes, these teams are more favored than they should be, but they are like a magnet for the public. The public’s taste shouldn’t matter if say you take the Cleveland Indians to win the World Series at +1200.
