Real Madrid vs Real Betis May 19: Prediction

Real Madrid finish a miserable season at home to Real Betis. Los Blancos started the season, their first without star forward Cristiano Ronaldo in a decade and their first without Zinedine Zidane since 2016, with high hopes and after all positive start under former Spain boss, Julen Lopetegui, all seemed to be going well.

However, the lack of a star forward and the dip in the form of some key players saw Real Madrid fall behind Barcelona and exit the Champions League to Ajax in the first knockout round, the first time they failed to reach the quarter finals in over a decade. After sacking Lopetegui in October time and his replacement Santiago Solari in March, Zinedine Zidane has returned to the Bernabeu and has oversaw the last 11 games of the season.

Real Betis have also had a disappointing season, they currently sit tenth, four points ahead of a Villarreal side who’ve spent the entire season fighting relegation . The Seville side started the season well, but have won just seven games in the second half of the campaign. The run of poor results, especially after such a promising summer transfer window, has seen Betis boss, Quique Seiten, come under increasing pressure and he will be desperate to end the campaign on back to back victories and end on a high note.

Betis won the last fixture at the Bernabeu, however Zinedine Zidane is unbeaten at home since his return and Betis have won just 3 of their 20 visits to Madrid meaning victory on Sunday will be difficult even if the hosts aren’t in the best of form themselves.  Having made apperances in their last two games, fan favourite, Vincius Junior could make his first start for the club since his injury in March. Keylor Navas and Gareth Bale could also make cameos as they are rumoured to be leaving the Bernabeu this summer.
