Here are some prop bets we’re looking at for the opening game of Week 1.
Isiah Pacheco: Over 49.5 Rushing Yards (-120)
Entering each of the past two seasons, the Chiefs’ corps of wide receivers has drawn scrutiny. The loss of Tyreek Hill proved to not be a big enough obstacle to stop the Chiefs from winning it all last season – now, there’s questions about whether Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore can fill the voids in the unit left by the departures of JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman.

Something that hasn’t been questioned ahead of this season is the Chiefs’ trust in Isiah Pacheco, a second-year running back who played a prominent role in the team’s offense down the stretch and into the postseason. Counting the postseason, Pacheco has eclipsed 50 yards rushing in nine of the Chiefs’ last eleven games. Even if there weren’t questions about how the team’s receivers will do out of the gate, betting on Pacheco to hit 49.5 would be reasonable.
Jared Goff: Under 0.5 Interceptions Thrown (-135)
The Lions narrowly missed the postseason in 2022, but Jared Goff drew rave reviews for his performance as the team’s starting quarterback. He finished the season with 4,438 yards and 29 touchdowns against only 7 interceptions. What’s further striking is that Goff threw his last interception in the team’s eighth game last season – he finished out the last nine weeks with a 15-0 TD-INT ratio, during which he eclipsed 300 passing yards three times while only failing to hit 200 yards once.

It’s a new season and it’s tough to cheer for under 0.5 anything, but Goff should be among the favorites to keep a clean slate through Week 1. The Chiefs’ defense only tallied 11 interceptions last season – three of them by Juan Thornhill, who is now employed by the Browns, and another three of them by L’Jarius Sneed, who has been limited in practice ahead of the game.
At -135 on most NFL betting sites, this is a nice price for a highly plausible outcome
Travis Kelce Anytime Touchdown (-175)
Fans looking for some extra juice can take Kelce’s Multiple Touchdown line (+190), but someone has to score for the Chiefs if they’re going to put points on the board. Kelce recorded a touchdown in each of the team’s postseason games at the end of 2022, and he’s recorded at least one touchdown in each of the Chiefs’ last three Week 1 games.
As much chatter as there is about the Chiefs’ receiving unit, the salient counterpoint is that Kelce functions as the team’s top receiver, and he’s been more than enough to fill the role. If the criticism holds merit, that only means more will be asked of Kelce until the rest of the receivers catch up.
