Netherlands vs Sweden July 3 Preview
Sweden are looking to reach their first World Cup final since 2003 against debut semi-finalists, the Netherlands.
The Swedes last reached the showpiece 16 years ago where they lost to Germany in the final, meaning they are still yet to win a major honour since their 1984 European championship victory. The Scandanvians have come close, losing to Germany in the Rio Olympics three years ago. Now, having beaten the Germans in a major tournament for the first time in 24 years last time out, the Swedes will be hopeful of downing the Netherlands for a place in the final in Paris.
The Netherlands, meanwhile, are seeking to add to their European Championship title with a first World Cup. The Dutch have been quietly impressive throughout the tournament and are now eight games unbeaten, scoring 22 goals and conceding just three. Despite not having the greatest of records against Sweden, the Netherlands can take inspiration from their 2-0 over Sweden in the European championship quarter-finals two years ago as they go in search of history.
The Netherlands vs Sweden July 3 Prediction
The Netherlands have the quality and winning pedigree needed by a World Cup finalists and should be slight favorites against Sweden, however, Blagult defeat of Germany in the previous round should stand as a warning shot as to what Sweden are capable of when not properly managed.
