NASCAR Talladega Predictions, Geico 500 Betting Preview: Joint-Favorite Denny Hamlin Chasing Back-to-Back Wins

Thirty-eight NASCAR drivers will return to the grid on Sunday when the Cup Series calendar turns to Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama, for the 2020 Geico 500.

A maximum of 5,000 fans will be permitted to attend the 13th race of the season as the United States continues its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, this being just the second NASCAR event allowing any spectators since the lockdown period began.

The GEICO 500 is a NASCAR Cup Series stock car race held at the Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama.

NASCAR at Talladega Predictions

The usual suspects return among the favorites to take top spot on the podium in Talladega. Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott and Kevin Harvick have each won the Geico 500 in the past and are priced level-headed at betting odds +550 (6.50) to win, odds courtesy of bet365 for customers in New Jersey.

Hamlin—who won this race in 2014—sits seventh in the Cup Series standings and is hoping to become the first driver this season to win back-to-back events having already become the first to notch three victories.

Standings leader Harvick has two wins this season and is hoping to tie level in that regard, as are fellow contenders Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski, who travel to Talladega at odds of +650 (7.50) and +850 (9.50), respectively.

Logano looks to be due a win considering both of his victories came in the first four races of the year, placing in the top 10 four times since NASCAR returned to action in mid-May.

Defending Cup Series champion Kyle Busch could also be a worthy pick at +650 (7.50) considering he’s still waiting on his maiden win this year having finished among the top six finishers on seven occasions in 12 races this season.

Ryan Blaney – Betting Favorite

Our prediction for this 2020 NASCAR at Talladega year’s Talladega winner goes to +1400 (15.00) longer-shot Ryan Blaney, however, another who’s yet to win in 2020 despite coming close on numerous occasions. The 26-year-old has six top-four finishes to his name, five of which have come in the last six races.

Blaney also has experience winning at Talladega after one of his two Cup Series wins to date came at the 1000Bulbs.com 500 last year, hoping the venue grants him good luck again in 2020.
