On May 14, MTV announced their annual nominations for the popular MTV Movie & TV Awards with two of the biggest entertainment hits of all time leading the contenders.

The worldwide smash hit “Avengers: Endgame” and the groundbreaking final season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” lead the nominations. Marvel’s box office hit dominates with four nods including one for Best Movie. Other nominations include Best Fight (Captain America vs. Thanos), Best Hero (Robert Downey, Jr. playing Iron Man), and Best Villain (Josh Brolin playing Thanos).

“GOT” takes over the TV category with four nominations as well for Best Show, Best Performance (Emilia Clarke playing Daenerys Targaryen), Best Hero (Maisie Williams playing Arya Stark) and Best Fight (The White Walkers vs. Arya Stark).

In a surprise twist, which could lead to interesting betting odds, The Oscar-nominated documentary “RBG” also gained major traction with the youth-driven audience by capturing four nods as well. The documentary feature highlighting the life and times of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg captured Best Movie, Best Fight, Best Real-Life Hero and Most Meme-able Moment.

New categories this year include Reality Royalty, Most Meme-able Moment, and Best Real-Life Hero, which lists nominees and tennis legend Serena Williams and the skilled rock climber Alex Honnold,

“Shazam!” star Zachary Levi will host the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards June 17 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
