UFC 148 Odds & Prediction: Miguel Baeza (-182) vs. Takashi Sato (+150)

Miguel Baeza has been rewarded for his knockout win over UFC veteran Matt Brown in May and is set to go up against a far trickier opponent in Takashi Sato at UFC Fight Night 184.

Both of these combatants have leaned heavily on striking prowess to forge their paths in mixed martial arts, and it would be a surprise if we see the 15 minutes play out in full.

“Caramel Thunder” extended his flawless career record to 9-0 with that victory over Brown, with two of those results coming in the UFC. Sato (16-3) has had only one more fight with the promotion and lost to Belal Muhammad via submission in September 2019 (the latter’s first-ever submission win).

Similarly, Baeza has also never tapped an opponent despite the fact he holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The opportunity is there to break that trend against Sato, whose last two losses have each been submissions.

There’s cause to like the underdog at moneyline odds of +150 with Borgata New Jersey, but Baeza can demonstrate just why there’s so much hype around his name by showcasing a different strength against another experienced opponent. The Florida native saw his chin tested in a tough test against Brown, but the ground advantage could provide the keys to victory here.

Prediction: Baeza via submission
