Magomed Ankalaev vs. Ion Cutelaba Predictions & Odds Preview
UFC Fight Odds & Prediction: Magomed Ankalaev (-335) vs. Ion Cutelaba (+250)
At the third time of asking, a rematch between Magomed Ankalaev and Ion Cutelaba is finally set for Saturday, six months to the day since their first fight ended with a cloud hanging over it.
Few mixed martial arts fans will be unaware of how the first bout between these fighters ended when referee Kevin MacDonald waved the fight over for Cutelaba, who protested he was merely playing possum under heavy fire from Ankalaev.
Regardless of where opinion falls on that matter, Ankalaev returns to the Octagon as -335 favorite to repeat the victory at Sugarhouse, while Cutelaba is a +250 pick to reverse the tide after their first fight was called after only 38 seconds.
Ankalaev (14-1) is one of numerous Dagestan natives currently taking the UFC by storm, with hopes high for his future despite losing to Paul Craig in his UFC debut back in March 2018. He’s since won four fights in a row—all but one via KO or TKO—and seems likely to keep the fight on its feet, as does Ankalaev.
It’s little wonder this fixture is -265 to not see all three rounds considering Ankalaev and Cutelaba have gone to a decision only eight times from their 35 combined professional fights. Cutelaba, 26, is the more impassioned and emotional of the two combatants, and Ankalaev’s experience and calm under pressure should lend itself well to overcoming that exuberance.
