Is it legal to bet at Betfair sportsbook in California?

Betfair owns the world’s largest branch of online sportsbook companies, but residents in California face a wait until they’ll be eligible to use the site or its app.

The only states in which Betfair is currently available are Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey (via TVG). California residents have an array of casino and card game options at their disposal, but betting on sports other than horse racing is more of a grey area.

After the move to repeal the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA), California has made fast moves to transform its gambling legislature. Kindred Group predicted 2020 will be the year in which California moves to regulate sports betting in a state-wide move.
