How to bet Major League Baseball’s first five innings?

The first five-inning wager is made the same way as a “regular” full game bet, except you are betting on just the first five innings. The team winning after five innings wins the bet. The bet is becoming more popular due to the way starting pitchers are being used; or maybe, more importantly, not being used. Not too long ago, starting pitchers were expected to try and complete a nine-inning game. Today, the strategy is different and the bullpens are used frequently.

Because the starting pitchers are looked at as being the most important factor in betting the game, why not make a wager in those innings, your pitcher is likely going to pitch? In 1970, starting pitchers averaged just under seven innings per start. In 1980, the average is now just over five innings per outing. Jhoulys Chacin, of the Milwaukee Brewers, led all of baseball with 35 starts. He did not complete any of those games and averaged just 5.51 innings per outing.
