The Major League Baseball season is 162 games. There have been times, teams have played one or two fewer games due to inclement weather. Major League Baseball does everything it can to get the games in, but if the teams that are affected aren’t involved in making the playoffs or the teams don’t have an effect on other teams making the postseason, the league might not make up those games. It’s rare, but it has happened. The season is still considered official and the prop bet stands. Popular season long prop bets including total home runs, total hits, and wins by pitchers. A few that top the home run list are New York Yankees slugger, Giancarlo Stanton heads the home run list with 40.5. Joey Gallo of the Texas Rangers and Oakland’s Khris Davis are at 38.5.

The Anaheim Angels outfielder, Mike Trout is at 37.5, while Nolan Arenado of Colorado and Boston’s J.D. Martinez weigh in at 36.5. Again, these are just the top home run hitters. The list is long. You can possibly find value in a player like Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds, who managed just 12 home runs last season, after hitting 94 over the prior three seasons. His total is 21.5. You’ll notice on the prop bet, there’s a .5. This is because the bookmakers want a winner or loser and not a push. So for example, if you bet Stanton’s total at 40.5, to win the over, he would have to hit at least 41 homers. The under comes in if Stanton hits fewer than 41.

Houston’s Jose Altuve tops the total hits list at 178.5. Boston’s Mookie Betts and Colorado’s Charlie Blackmon follow with 177.5. If you are betting on Altuve to go over, he must finish the regular season with at least 179 hits. 178 or less and you lose. Corey Kluber of the Cleveland Indians tops the total wins prop bet for pitchers at 16.5. Chris Sale of the Boston Red Sox, the Yankees Luis Severino, along with Carlos Carrasco of the Indians, Houston’s Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer are all at 15.5. If you bet the over on Kluber, he must finish the season with at least 17 wins for you to cash in.
