Drone Racing League 2020: Latest Odds & How to Bet On Level 15 (Biosphere)

The penultimate round of the 2020-21 Drone Racing League takes place when more bettors than ever will have their chance to wager on one of sports’ latest crazes. Here some predictions.

In the same week that the DRL celebrates its fifth anniversary, it was confirmed residents in Illinois will be able to legally place bets on races. They join a growing list of authorised DRL gambling states, which already included New Jersey, Colorado, Tennessee, New Hampshire and West Virginia. Here Draftkings set oddds on DRL races and Unibet sportsbook accepts bets.

The 2020-21 DRL season is the first of its kind to be an all-virtual affair, with pilots competing via race simulators from the comfort of their own homes. A total of 10 pilots will take part in Tuesday’s Biosphere’ event, and Unibet USA have rookie participant Amari (real name Christian van Sloun) priced as the -250 favorite, having been a near-constant figure among the podium places in his debut year. The Iowa native won 10 out of 10 heats en route to winning the largest-ever DRL SIM Tryouts and has proved he belongs among the sport’s established elite.

The newcomer came close to notching victory in Stage 14 (USAF Boneyard) of this season, but veteran Gab707 (real name Gabriel Kocher) stole in near the finish to take first place:

Broadcast Date: Tuesday, January 26

Time: 8 p.m. ET

Amari may be the hot ticket according to the US sportsbooks taking bets on drone racing, but the most recent stage winner, Gab707, has demonstrated supreme consistency over the past few seasons of the Drone Racing League.

The Swiss physicist looks great value to seal back-to-back wins at +1100 odds, especially considering some of the high-quality manoeuvres displayed during Stage 14:

Two-time DRL champion Jet (real name Jordan Temkin) also looks worth some attention out at +2500 odds, although his ability to contend among the top competitors appears to have diminished over time.

At the other end of the rookie scale to Amari, underdog TC (real name Timothy Trowbridge) is priced out at the longest odds of any pilot, a +10000 outsider to beat the best at Biosphere.

Prediction: Gab707 to win Stage 15 (+1100)
