NFL Week 17 Odds, Picks and Predictions: Dallas Cowboys Beat Giants to Take NFC East Title

The NFC East best encapsulates the chaos and lack of rhythm that’s reigned throughout 2020, with three teams still in the hunt for first entering the final week of the regular season.

The Dallas Cowboys (second, 6-9) and New York Giants (third, 5-10) meet in New Jersey aware that a win gives either a chance at the division, but only if Washington (6-9) fail to beat the Philadelphia Eagles (4-10-1).

Luckily for Dallas, they’ve exchanged recent form with the Giants, who have forgotten how to win after a four-game undefeated streak ended in Week 13. Since then, the Cowboys have bucked to three wins in a row and averaged 36 points scored against the Bengals, 49ers and the Eagles.

The Giants, by contrast, have scored only 27 points total across their last three outings, and struggling to score with a fatigued first-choice quarterback in Daniel Jones. The prospects won’t be much better if backup QB Colt McCoy is appointed starter for the regular-season sign-off.

With a potential season-changing prize on the line, Dallas look like decent value as -157 moneyline favorites with Sugarhouse to beat the Giants in New Jersey. New York’s waning offense means the guests are in good shape to do the double having emerged 37-34 victors when the rivals clashed in Week 5:

Preview

Defense has been one foundation the Giants have been able to fall back on this season, conceding conceding more than 27 points in only two of their 15 matchups to date. However, their inability to score sufficient points looks like it outweighs any struggles the Cowboys might have in breaking them down.

Cowboys @ Giants Prediction: Cowboys by 4

Dallas Cowboys: -157

New York Giants: +128

Dallas have won their past six games against the Giants and scored at least 35 points in the last four of those. The Andy Dalton-led Cowboys don’t look as likely to run rampant on this occasion, but recent rhythm shown in their results suggest they’ve enough to win and cover the two-point spread. A Cowboys win with under 45 total points scored returns +225 odds, which looks like the best parlay pick for Sunday’s game.

That win becomes all the more valuable if Washington fail to beat Philadelphia in the late kick-off, which is a distinct possibility following the improvements brought on by Jalen Hurts’ promotion to starting QB.
