While they wait for State lawmakers to clear the last roadblocks to legalise sports betting in Massachusetts, sports-mad residents of Boston are legally able to take part in a range of Daily Fantasy Sports games, via websites and apps such as Draftkings and FanDuel.

Daily Fantasy Sports (more commonly known by the abbreviation DFS) betting is legal in Boston, as it is across the whole of the State of Massachusetts.

In fact, it was one of the first States in America to open its doors to daily fantasy sports gambling, formally legalizing DFS gaming back in 2016. DFS giant DraftKings has its headquarters in the Bay State.

That means it is perfectly legal for anyone over the age of 21 to play DFS games on sites such as DraftKings, FanDuel, Fantasy Draft, Yahoo! and ESPN. Monthly deposits are limited to $1,000 under State law.

The limit on deposits appears not to have affected the DFS market in Massachusetts. According to playma.com, it has more than 75,000 active DFS players, who spend more than $75million every year in entry fees.

However, an impasse over college sports betting has stalled legislation for the moment – though it is still expected that a bill will pass sometime in 2019.
