Daily Fantasy Sports Betting Sites in Boston

While they wait for State lawmakers to clear the last roadblocks to legalise sports betting in Massachusetts, sports-mad residents of Boston are legally able to take part in a range of Daily Fantasy Sports games, via websites and apps such as Draftkings and FanDuel.

Daily Fantasy Sports (more commonly known by the abbreviation DFS) betting is legal in Boston, as it is across the whole of the State of Massachusetts.

In fact, it was one of the first States in America to open its doors to daily fantasy sports gambling, formally legalizing DFS gaming back in 2016. DFS giant DraftKings has its headquarters in the Bay State.

That means it is perfectly legal for anyone over the age of 21 to play DFS games on sites such as DraftKings, FanDuel, Fantasy Draft, Yahoo! and ESPN. Monthly deposits are limited to $1,000 under State law.

The limit on deposits appears not to have affected the DFS market in Massachusetts. According to playma.com, it has more than 75,000 active DFS players, who spend more than $75million every year in entry fees.

Here you can bet on DFS in Boston (Massachusetts):

  • DraftKings boasts a range of sports, including fantasy basketball, golf, baseball, soccer, football, hockey, and even Nascar, MMA, and the CFL, and features free as well as pay-to-enter games. Until midnight December 31, 2019, DraftKings is offering a €10 free play to newly registered users who follow a referral link and who deposit €5. It also offers other inducements to new users at different times of the year.
  • FanDuel like DraftKings is a fantasy sports platform and features free as well as pay-to-enter games. Between them, FanDuel and DraftKings have 90 percent of the daily fantasy sports market. FanDuel is offering a €5 to new users who make an initial deposit of €5. It also offers other inducements to new users at different times of the year.
  • ESPN Fantasy Sports is one of the most popular fantasy sports apps and supports fantasy sports such as basketball, football, rugby, hockey, and baseball. Its DFS competitions are free to enter, but prizes are smaller than the paid-for DraftKings and FanDuel games
  • CBS Sports Fantasy covers fantasy baseball, basketball, football, and hockey. Like ESPN Fantasy, its DFS competitions are free to enter, but prizes are smaller than the paid-for DraftKings and FanDuel games

Similar to ESPN and CBS Sports Fantasy games, Yahoo! Fantasy Sports covers most sports, including fantasy hockey, football, baseball, and basketball.

All websites offer expert advice from their pundits on players to pick and avoid – and have a strong social media presence. Look out, too, for player forums on websites such as RotoGrinders, Daily Fantasy Sports Forum, or footballguys.com. Where better to enjoy the company of fellow DFS players?

Right now, however, sports betting remains illegal across Massachusetts. But, following the Supreme Court’s 2018 decision to overturn the 1992 Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, it is not expected to be long before betting on sports is permitted across the State.

Three draft bills to legalize sports betting were introduced in January and were debated during committee hearings at the Massachusetts State House at the end of March. An agreement in June between MA-based casinos and mobile betting operators – including DFS-turned-sportsbook operators including DraftKings and FanDuel – on licenses, meanwhile, appeared to clear one of the major roadblocks to sports-betting legalization. However, an impasse over college sports betting has stalled legislation for the moment – though it is still expected that a bill will pass sometime in 2019.

Until such time as sports betting is made legal, however, sports fans have Fantasy Sports challenges.
