Despite awful start to MLB season, New York Yankees are still favorites to win AL Pennant

Is it too early to start panicking in the Bronx?

New York Yankees’ fans all over social media have been killing the Bronx Bombers, who are off to the worst start in the American League at 5-10.

Not that standings matter in the third week of April, but the Yankees are already trail the Boston Red Sox by five games in the AL East, and just got swept by the Tampa Bay Rays; just because the Yankees’ offices are in Tampa does not mean they have to let the Rays own them; but that is exactly what Tampa Bay does right now, own the Yankees on the field.

But the best and legal U.S. sportsbook apps around the country have yet to be swayed very much by the terrible start to the campaign. Most of them still have New York as the prohibitive favorite to win the American League, and as the second favorites behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (+350 with William Hill, use code WHGAMBLERRF to get bonus ) to win the World Series.

Is that going to remain the case, though, for much longer? You have to imagine that the Yankees, with their loaded lineup and staff, are going to snap out of it and start winning games.

But should they be the American League favorite?

Many of the teams in the league that were predicted to have big seasons have started out slowly, as well. The Toronto Blue Jays are 7-9, the Chicago White Sox are 8-9, the Minnesota Twins are 6-8, while the Houston Astros are 7-8.

Could the parity in the American League help teams get their feet under them and then kick on in May and June?

At some point, if the Yankees are struggling in June, it may become an issue. Remember, the Washington Nationals were 19-31 in 2019 then won the World Series.

But if you think the Yankees are going to win the league, it might be worth it to wait, and see if the odds drop closer to the pack.
