Expected FL mobile sports betting apps in 2021 and further: Seminole Hard Rock Sportsbook App

Sports betting via mobile app: All sports are likely to be available upon launch in Florida. Currently just local and National horse racing, and major horse racing events.

Mobile betting in Florida

It is currently legal to play daily fantasy sports, and betting on greyhound or horse races in the state of Florida. This does give the residents of Florida several different options, but most people want to see more, and have more choices. Florida lawmakers are open to the idea of legalizing sports betting apps, but the Native American tribes in the state have different plans. The Seminole tribe is the largest and most powerful in the state of Florida, and the decision will ultimately be up to them. For now, there are three major horse race betting apps available to residents of Florida, and more could become available soon. If sports betting does become legalized in the state, then the Seminole Hard Rock Casino would likely be the first to release a sports betting app.

More about gambling in Florida.

Florida Online Sports Betting Guide

The Sunshine State has some of the nation’s top sports teams out there when looking at each section. With the amount of great sports teams, it is no secret that betting on these teams is very popular in other states.

Florida is home to 10 professional sports teams that stretch across all major American sports leagues. On top of that, alumni can easily find their favorite Division 1 collegiate programs to cheer for too.

Even with such popularity for these teams and how they are located throughout the state, fans will be disappointed if they want to place bets on their favorite teams. They will be dissatisfied that physical sportsbooks are not even offered for legal sports betting in any Florida city.

However, there is some good news for residents looking to put a wager on their favorite team’s games. The solution, although potentially temporary, lies in the hands of online offshore sportsbooks.

These gambling options can provide a safe, wide-ranging, and efficient way to place bets on almost every sports event you can imagine. Residents will be stunned if they have not thought of this option before. This is because offshore bookies have had bad press in the past.

If you are trying to get a tan on the shore of South Beach or waiting at Disney World for your next ride, you can have access to online sports betting with offshore bookies.

Florida residents know that there are no options for high-level casinos in the state, along with any sportsbooks, compared to other states with a high level of tourist attractions. This is an interesting state since they, too, have a lot of tourist activity. You would imagine there would be a mix of business opportunities such as casinos and sportsbooks.

There are a handful of casinos available, with eight casinos within the state that are a part of a tribal compact and allows for Class III type of gaming. The other casinos are pari-mutuel or horse race betting, as it is here.

According to the Federal Register for Florida, Class III gaming includes the likes of gambling on sports. However, the terminology was not very definitive, as it was not clearly outlined in the compact.

The other gambling institutions located in the state, such as those horse racing tracks mentioned above, include various slot machines, but they do not accept sports wagers either. Again, this puts an interesting view on places that already accept gambling to a degree, so why not have a sportsbook too.

Another option that Florida residents have for sports betting is to take a cruise ship and bet out in the open waters. Depending on where they are in the state, they can travel to the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean and place sports bets on the comfort of a cruise ship.

Florida sports betting laws cover just about everything when it comes to each betting option. Even though there is a gray area for online offshore bookies, the state clearly acknowledges that betting in person anywhere in the state is illegal. This is also true if you try to start your own sportsbook, so do not think about that either.

So really, if you want to place bets on sports in Florida, whether it be on your favorite local teams or others, residents will need to use an offshore sportsbook. Research will be very important here, as you do not want to hand money over to an offshore sportsbook that is unreliable.

Florida is by far one of the most popular places for sports around the country. They offer three NFL teams, two MLB teams, two NBA teams, and two NHL teams. Now, this is just the professional side of teams that have success in other markets.

In addition, college football is another very popular betting option, with the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, and Miami Hurricanes atop a lot of sports bettors lists. These teams also have performed well in other areas such as college baseball and even basketball.

Another option for something close to sports betting that is somewhat popular is the pari-mutuel races that occur at some racetracks. Some of these are for fun, while others can have bets placed on them. These are only popular if physically betting on anything is frowned upon by the state.

Sports betting is going to be extremely popular in the state, should they ever fully regulate it. These sportsbooks that could come in would greatly benefit if the state ever gets the ball rolling.

Florida Sports Betting Timeline Since 2018

In 2018, the federal government passed legislation that removed roadblocks for states to plan together to sort out their own guidelines and frameworks to regulate sports betting within their state limits. With an election in recent years, Florida voters had moved the power to fully legalize and regulate online sports betting procedures out of the hands of these legislators and now into the hands of the state’s residents.

Other interesting news was that after a deal was not reached in 2019, the Seminoles tribe announced that they would not make their annual gaming payment, somewhere in the neighborhood of $330 million, to the state in 2020. A new compact needed to be reached in order to restart the payment.

This added some urgency for the state to try and act on a deal that included the likes of Florida sports betting. The deal is as talked about but ultimately fell short due to the rise of the Covid-19 issues.

This added some urgency for the state to try and act on a deal that included the likes of Florida sports betting. The deal is as talked about but ultimately fell short due to the rise of the Covid-19 issues.

Sports betting in Florida had a breath of life and could definitely happen in the future. For now, it remains illegal to wager on sports in Florida in person or online, unless you use an offshore account.

Top 3 Land Based Casinos in Florida

There are roughly 23 gambling locations currently operating in Florida and then some other options when you factor in cruise ships. These venues are typically racetrack casinos, while a handful of them being tribal casinos.

At the racetracks, you can find some gaming machines like slots. You must be 21 to play at these locations since they have electronic gambling machines. For Indian casinos, the minimum is 18 years of age unless they, too, have electronic gambling machines. Either way, it will be stated at their location.

Depending on what options you decide to go for in Florida, you will find that there is no consistent field across the board for your gaming options. One casino might have something that another one does not, and the cycle goes on.

The following options have differences in gaming options, and they also have some attractive locations when factoring in travel. Tourists will be pleased as they arrive at these locations or even stay nearby.

The Casino at Dania Beach offers guests a lot of gaming options. This casino has more than 750 slots and a 24 table card room. With a prime location, it could host an attractive sportsbook if sports betting becomes legal.

Hialeah Park Racing and Casino is one of South Florida’s most respected gambling venues in their history. This location offers electronic roulette, blackjack, and more than 800 slot machines.

There is a poker room on the second floor that attracts players from across the region to play at their scheduled tournaments. Horses have replaced the greyhounds, and you can catch seasonal races onsite and year-round races with a simulcast on screens in their Champions Sports Bar.

Magic City Casino offers 800 slot machines and even claims that they pay more jackpots than any other casino featured in Miami. A popular attraction indeed, this would make a great sportsbook location and have a lot of traffic.

Florida Online Sports Betting Future Plans 2021

There is some hope to believe that 2021 could be the year for when the legalization of sports betting could finally happen in the Sunshine State. Now, the earliest sports bets could be placed in Florida is most like in 2022.

This could then lead to mobile gaming. Of course, this would be up to sportsbooks if they allow this to pass in the legislation too.

Senator Wilton Simpson has shown that he has a good relationship with the Seminoles. He had worked out a tentative agreement with the tribe in 2019 before Governor Ron DeSantis had refused to sign off on the deal.

There is some hope that DeSantis will become more involved in these negotiations. He has indicated in the past that he wants to see a comprehensive gambling deal finished.
