Sports betting is on the way to Connecticut – both retail and online! Legal CT betting apps should have been going live on October 7th, 2021, just in time for Week 5 of the NFL season, but it has now been delayed.
There will be several sportsbooks to choose from in the CT sports betting market. We are going to take a deeper look at what CT betting apps will have to offer.
Does Connecticut have Legal Sports Betting?
Legal sports betting in Connecticut has arrived. Three online betting sites and apps will go live on October 7th, along with several physical sportsbook locations.
Anyone over the age of 21 will be able to sign up for CT sports betting apps!
House Bill 6451 passed in 2021. It authorized licensing of online casino games, retail and online sportsbooks, fantasy, keno, and online lottery tickets. Sports betting revenue will have a tax rate of 13.75%.
Connecticut will be a somewhat small market compared to other states. Customers will only have three online betting sites to choose from. Online licenses were given to the state’s two tribal casinos (Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan), and the Connecticut Lottery.
Mohegan has partnered with FanDuel and Mashantucket Pequot partnered with DraftKings.
The Connecticut Lottery will be working with Rush Street Gaming to launch its online sportsbook. Rush Street Gaming is best known for developing BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse, which are live in multiple states in the US.
In addition to the three betting sites, the Connecticut Lottery will be authorized to operate 15 retails sportsbooks across the state.
The Best CT Betting Apps
Three CT sports betting apps will be allowed, so you’ll have some choices to make. On our site, we will have all of the sign-up bonuses available for the available betting sites.
Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment – FanDuel
The Mohegan Tribe, who operate the Mohegan Sun, partnered with FanDuel. The Mohegan Sun is likely to be responsible for the first legal sports bets that are placed in the state.
FanDuel will have a sportsbook inside the casino to go along with its mobile app. The FanDuel CT app will have a plethora of betting options, plus free-to-play fantasy games.
When signing up, customers in CT will be able to use a risk-free bet of up to $1,000!
Mashantucket Pequot – DraftKings
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe operates the Foxwoods Resort and Casino. It partnered with DraftKings for online and retail sports betting. So, both DFS and sports betting giants will be in Connecticut.
The DraftKings CT app will be full of special features, such as sportsbook pools and a NFT marketplace.
DraftKings supplies tons of promos and new bonus opportunities. We love the sign-up bonuses that offer easy wins, such as placing a $1 bet and receiving $150 in free bets.
The Connecticut Lottery – PlaySugarHouse
The Connecticut Lottery had a decision to make between multiple operators that wanted a partnership. It ended up partnering with Rush Street Interactive.
RSI operates BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse, but it will be PlaySugarHouse that will go live in CT. The sportsbook is also live in NJ, which is a good reason why the company chose the brand.
There will be a promo code available for PlaySugarHouse to claim a 100% deposit match up to $250!
How Will I Sign Up?
When CT betting apps launch, we will have all of the best welcome promotions. Look through the offers and find which one works best for you. Keep in mind, you can use all of the welcome bonuses, but you can’t use any of them twice.
Sometimes, promo codes will be included, which we will provide for you. Our reviews will have specific instructions on how you can sign up and claim a bonus.
You don’t have to live in Connecticut, but you do have to be within the state lines. Connecticut betting apps will use geolocation services to ensure that you are within the border when placing a bet.
Anyone at least 21 years of age is eligible to sign up for a CT sports betting site. You will have to provide information such as your email, phone number, address, and the last four digits of your social security number to confirm your identity.
Sports to Bet on in Connecticut
Connecticut doesn’t have any professional teams, but there are plenty of fans for New England and New York area teams. The New York Yankees, New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and New York Knicks will all be popular wagers in the state.
Besides professional sports, the University of Connecticut does have a great basketball program. The Huskies have competed in March Madness multiple times in the past, and the tournament is an incredibly exciting time for sports bettors.
However, that is going to be the only time that you can bet on in-state teams. Unless there are four or more teams in a tournament, you won’t be able to bet on college teams that are located in CT.
Connecticut sports betting apps will offer much more than just well-known leagues and sports. Here are some of the options you may see offered:
- Aussie Rules
- Motor Racing
- Table Tennis
Betting types will include moneylines, totals, spreads, parlays, round-robins, teasers, props, futures, and most notably, live betting!
Mohegan Sun Arena
The Mohegan Sun Area is home to the majority of the indoor sporting events in the state. It is home to the Connecticut Sun, which is a WNBA team.
Other events that occur in the arena include college basketball tournaments and professional fighting. It is also home to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, an AHL hockey team.
Live Betting on CT Betting Apps
Live betting has become a critical feature for sportsbooks in the US. It allows you to wager on games as they happen.
Odds compilers and the latest technology change the odds as the action occurs. Watching a game becomes much more intriguing as new betting opportunities arise after every play.
In-game wagering is one of the key components that we consider when determining the top CT sports betting apps. Some operators become much better than others.
Not all CT live betting apps will offer the same number of sports or leagues, but the best will have a hefty amount of live options.
Plus, we love to see live streaming. This gives you the chance to watch the game even if you don’t have it on TV. But if it’s not included, there is usually some sort of graphic that allows you to keep up with the game.
If you are live betting on CT sports betting apps, you will want to make sure that your internet connection is strong. Odds change in an instant, so it’s important to have quick loading times.
Live betting gives you more chances to bet, but it can also give you more chances to win. Using strategies such as hedging your pregame wagers can give you an advantage!
Betting Locations in CT – Sportech PLC
Sportech PLC has spent a lot of time and money upgrading its gaming locations in Connecticut.
The ten betting sites that will initially be opening will be located in Hartford, Manchester, Milford, New Britain, New Haven, Norwalk, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury and Windsor Locks. Another five locations will be following.
All of the states that have legalized online gaming have taken responsible gaming into account. Legal CT sports betting apps will give you tools and resources to help you make sure you are controlling how much you spend.
As soon as you create an account, you will be able to set deposit limits and time limits. Once you have reached your limit for the day/week, you won’t be able to bet until the time period has elapsed.
There will also be a page on all Connecticut sports betting sites that give you contact information for assistance. If you or someone you know develops a gambling addiction, there will be multiple resources available to help. One of which is 1-800-GAMBLER.
