Rosecroft Raceway
The Rosecroft Raceway is a harness racing track located in Fort Washington, Maryland. With its close proximity to Interstate 495, the track has received the nickname “Raceway by the Beltway.”
This track has changed hands over the years since its opening in 1949. The Rosecroft Raceway was in its glory throughout the1950s with an attendance of over 7,000 people daily. However, the track saw a decline in the 1980s and eventually was closed down by 2010.
However, in 2011 it was purchased by Penn National Gaming in an attempt to make it a racecourse/casino and the Rosecroft reopened that same year. The track has hosted some notable races over the years including the Messenger Stakes, Breeders Crown, and Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Pacers.
