I can’t say this enough: college football is the best sport to bet on and it’s not even close. You see silly mistakes made in college that you would hardly see in the NFL, because those players have been through the fire and are older. You just never know how college kids are going to respond in situational football.
However, you have to take the good with the bad when it comes to college football. With the randomness of each game each week you have to be careful with what you bet. For example, spreads in college football aren’t as tight as the NFL, but top-tier teams do not cover spreads as much as you would think. Spreads and team totals are certainly aren’t the best type of college football bet. If you are looking for the best type of college football bet, look no further than the over/under.
The over/under bet is the most exhilarating bet in college football. Depending on the team, you have a good inclination of whether they will hit the over or not on a week-to-week basis. For example, Oklahoma was an extremely high-powered offense with a horrendous defense. Based on that knowledge, you would assume that they hit the over more often than not. You would have assumed right because out of 14 games last season, Oklahoma hit the over in 11 of them at a 78.6% rate. On the other hand, last season Washington had a very old-school slow offense but a stellar defense. With those facts, you could deduct that Washington was a big under team and you would be right because they hit the under at a 91.7% rate.
The over/under is not a surefire bet but it is as close to a “lock” as you can get depending on the teams playing. You just have to get a read on the matchup and you can do that by looking at certain past matchups and historical data. Plus, who doesn’t love either seeing a ton of points scored or an absolute defensive performance? (depending on what you bet of course).
