Tiger Woods scored the story of the golf season earlier his year when he won to Augusta and won The Masters in impressive style.
Can Woods comeback trail continue this week at Pebble Beach where the U.S. Open will be held?
Woods is listed as the third favorite at 10-1 to win what would be his fourth U.S. Open title, but his first since 2008.
Brooks Koepka, who has won the U.S. Open title in both 2017 and 2018, is a co-favorite at 8-1 to make it three straight titles.
Dustin Johnson, the 2016 U.S. Open champion, is the other co-favorite also at 8-1. The 2015 champion, Jordan Spieth, always a popular choice, is 14-1 and the fifth choice among the bookmakers. Rory McIlroy, another popular choice, is 10-1.
A good sleeper pick might be Justin Thomas, who has played well in 2019 and is a generous 25-1.
Woods has three U.S. Open titles on his mantle. He won his first in 2000 right here at Pebble Beach; came back two years later and won again at Famingdale (N.Y.) and took his third title in 2008 at Torrey Pines (La Jolla, Ca.).
Since winning the Masters this year, Woods failed to make the cut at Farmingdale, van though he entered that event as he favorite. He came back, however, to post a top 10 finish at the Memorial.
Despite his three U.S. Open wins, he has not finished in the top 10 at The Open since 2010 and has missed the cut the past two years.
