Sports bettors in Pennsylvania, rejoice!
The three-day testing period for the SugarHouse Casino online app was successful and is now fully live in the state as of May 31, 2019.
Gamblers within the state limits can now bet around the clock, every day.
While bettors have been able to place bets at various physical places around the state, such as Parx, Rivers Sportsbook, the South Philadelphia Turf Club, and SugarHouse Sportsbook, the new online apps will make it much easier to bet on sporting events, specifically with the in-play betting. In-Play is expected to become the biggest money maker for the sites very quickly.
Rush Street Interactive President Richard Schwartz spoke about the new app: “We are excited to make history in bringing the first online sportsbook to sports fans in the state of Pennsylvania.”
While the app has launched online for use on Android devices and on computers, the iOS users have so far been locked out of the app due to a problem with the Apple app store. There is still no time frame for when it will be live.
Six more online betting apps are expected to be live in PA by the end of the summer
While SugarHouse is the first in Pennsylvania, it will not be the last. Six more online apps are expected to be live by the end of the summer, with two, BetRivers and Parx Casino, expected to be live in June.
Fan Duel at Valley Forge Casino, Hollywood Casino at Penn National, Harrah's Philadelphia, and Presque Isle Downs will join the other three sometime this summer.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board passed a ruling when the sports betting was legalized in the state that all online sites must have a retail sports book in place before launching. SugarHouse, along with Rivers, were the first two retail books to open on December 15, 2018, hence why they are two of the first to go live with the app. Parx was right behind the duo, and will open shortly as well.
