2020 Formula 1 Predictions: Valtteri Bottas to Keep Mercedes Streak Alive at Russian Grand Prix
F1 2020 Russian Grand Prix Prediction: Valtteri Bottas to win (+200)
The 2020 Russian Grand Prix will be the seventh time the race has taken place as part of the Formula 1 calendar, and Mercedes are yet to fail in producing the winning driver in any edition to date.
Standings leader Lewis Hamilton recovered from an unlikely seventh-place finish at the Italian Grand Prix to win the Tuscan equivalent one week later, his sixth victory in only nine races this year.
The Briton is a -200 favorite with Unibet BONUS to extend his winning record at the Sochi Autodrom come Sunday, but there’s hope Mercedes team-mate Bottas may be the one who shines brightest in Russia. New Jersey residents can treble their money backing the Finn at a more appealing price of +200, and the odds have fallen in his favor during the early free practice sessions:
So, Bottas takes the headlines on Friday at Sochi ahead of team-mate Hamilton with Mercedes in control. Ricciardo, in third, was just over one second off Bottas – which is a lot over one lap. #F1— Autosport Live (@autosportlive) September 25, 2020
Hamilton has won the Russian Grand Prix four times in six attempts—including the last two runnings—but Bottas has the honor of being the last driver to triumph here in 2017. Hamilton also led the standings leading up to the race on that occasion, though it certainly helped the competition that he could only muster fourth place in qualifying.
Similar luck may be required in order for Bottas to finish ahead of his Mercedes comrade, but seven top-three finishes from a possible nine this year—including runner-up finishes in Belgium and Tuscany—show he’s a force to be reckoned with all of his own.
bet365 New Jersey customers may also be attracted to the +800 odds that Alexander Albon will finish among the top three in Sochi. The Red Bull driver—took third in Tuscany last time out and has finished fourth or fifth on another three occasions this season, looking capable of cracking into the F1 hierarchy if things go his way.
Team-mate Max Verstappen was forced to retire in each of the past two races in Italy, and more engine troubles could open the podium up to a surprise entrant like Albon.
