Pittsburgh and Buffalo each lead their respective divisions in the AFC North and AFC East, with motivation no issue for two sides who can seal their post-season fates with games to spare. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter laid out the playoff prospects for both franchises ahead of Week 14, with the Steelers hoping a Cleveland Browns loss against Baltimore could secure the crown in the North:

The quick game turnover appeared to hurt Pittsburgh in their recent defeat to Washington, and there’s a good chance doubt will start to creep into Mike Tomlin’s side ahead of an elite opponent. 

The visitors have already been forced to make do without key defensive players in Devin Bush and Bud Dupree, both of whom were victim to serious knee injuries this year. Those absences won’t help them facing the 10th overall best offense in the NFL, with Josh Allen running the Bills pass game with slick efficiency this season.

Pittsburgh will be aided by the return of star running-back James Conner following his brush with COVID-19, which is timely considering they’ve accumulated the fourth fewest rushing yards in the league this year.

Buffalo have a tragic record against the Steelers since the 1993 season, winning only two of their 12 encounters since then. However, the Bills are on track to break double-digit wins for just the second time this century, evidence that Sean McDermott’s current squad is not like past seasons.

The Bills—who had a bye in Week 11—are more rested than their Week 14 foes and have the attacking potency to get at a Steelers defense missing some key men. 

Those facts put Buffalo in a good position to live up to their favorites billing, and +230 odds on the hosts to win with under 46.5 points score could be the ticket in New York.
