Manchester City was already heavily-favored to complete the domestic treble Saturday afternoon at Wembley, as the Cityzens take on Watford in the 2019 F.A. Cup Final.
But Pep Guardiola gave City fans some more good new Friday, in the press conference before the big match.
Defensive midfielder Fernandinho, who has been the key to this incredible two-year run in the league, trained this week, and should be available for selection for the Cityzens.
“Fernandinho trained today and yesterday,” Guardiola said.
Fernandinho left the Manchester Derby injured on April 24, and has not played since that 2-0 win over Manchester United.
City will also have Kevin de Bruyne available, after he missed time with a hamstring injury. The player, who was arguably the best in the league last season, missed much of the 2018-19 campaign.
The Belgian came on in the 78th minute in the final day 4-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion Sunday, and will look to be an integral part of what he hopes is City's third trophy win this campaign.
“I am so eager to play the FA Cup Final, I am so motivated,” de Bruyne said. “It is not about adding that achievement to my CV. I don’t care about my CV. I know this team and they are like a pack of lions. When this team is hungry, they are such a special team.”
Manchester City is still a -450 favorite to win the F.A. Cup in regulation Saturday, and those odds could move further lower if these two stars are in the lineup when it is posted at 11 a.m. Eastern time tomorrow.
Watford is +1300, while the draw is +500. Manchester City is a staggering -1200 to lift the cup, with Watford priced at +650 on BetStars NJ.
