Lines don’t change based on how many people bet a certain way, they change by how much money is bet a certain way. So on a small scale if seven people all bet $100 on the over and three people bet $200 on the under it would still be 70 percent of the people betting the over, but the reality is there would be a total of $700 bet on the over and $600 on the under, which is almost equal. Also keep one other factor in mind when looking at the percentages of over/under bets, people like to be the over. They just do. The casual fan who watches a game and wants a little action will bet the over, because he wants to see points scored. Very few fans (I’m not included in this) like to see a defensive battle.
