Obviously, the purse for the Arlington Million is 1 million dollars, and the winner secures their position in the Breeders’ Cup Turf race. The race consists of a 1.25-mile track and usually takes place in August.

The Hawthorne Race Course is an incredibly old track that was built in 1891 for the purpose of thoroughbred racing. The Hawthorne is the oldest family-owned racetrack in North America and has been continually run since it has been established. The Hawthorne Race Course is located in Stickney/Cicero Illinois and in close proximity for Chicago horse racing fans. Some of the most notable races that take place here are the Hawthorne Gold Cup, Illinois Derby, and the Hawthorne Derby.
