Young, 21, looks a certain star in the making and has all the physical attributes to be NFL-ready in Week 1, though players have surprised the bookmakers’ predictions to win the award in the past.
Jeff Okudah looks an ideal fit for the Detroit Lions after he went No. 3 overall in the Draft, though his 20/1 (21.00) odds may not have you believe it. Cornerbacks have also accounted for two of the last five DROTY winners, and a rare work ethic could see Okudah come out on top of this year’s class.
Defensive Rookie of the Year hasn’t gone to a defensive tackle since Aaron Donald won the gong in 2014, but Javon Kinlaw could be a worthwhile punt to break the duck at 25/1 (26.00). Kinlaw was picked in the first round by a 49ers team that went 13-3 last season, and he’s sure to have useful in how to attract the right plaudits from 2019 winner Bosa.
Former Auburn standout Derrick Brown went to Carolina with the seventh overall pick but is also a tempting price at 25/1, another capable up-and-comer in a Panthers team that’s drastically expanded its defensive options.
